For one course in my executive master’s in technology management at Columbia University, I had to imagine what it would be like to get a chief information/technology officer role in a country I’ve never visited. The assignment required us to select and research the job market in that country and come up with a strategy to find and attain an executive position.
For the assignment, I found a CIO opening at the University of Accra in Ghana and created a 90 Day Plan to present at a hypothetical job interview. With some of the research, I created a fictional print brochure that I would have picked up from visiting Ghana’s Ministry of Science, Technology, & Innovation. To make the design, I used Canva and a brochure template, which automatically sized the canvas to typical print dimensions and gave me three columns (where the folds would be).
In the class, I got an A!
